Apprenticeship and Industry Training Logo

Earn your designation as an Overhead Door Technician under Alberta’s Apprenticeship and Industry Training Act. Trained, experienced technicians can earn more than $35/hr. We are a leader in the creation of this designation, and currently have one apprenticeship training slot available. Here’s how it works:

You complete both hands-on and written training

  • Hands-on Training – You’ll work full-time hours alongside one of our experienced Overhead Door Technicians in a two-man service truck. You’ll respond to service calls, learn about the various overhead door systems, help diagnose problems, and participate in making repairs. You’ll earn full wages (no “training” wages) starting at $21 - $25/hr. depending on your experience and mechanical talents. Your wages will increase as you develop expertise and advance toward being a lead service technician.
  • Written Training – The written material is organized into two levels: Level 1 (6 modules) and Level 2 (7 modules). The modules start with the basics and building progressively. You’ll complete each module at your own pace before moving on to the next.

Your work days will always be varied and interesting as you learn to tackle a wide range of overhead door and electric operator problems. Work is in-town, Monday – Friday 8 AM – 4:30 PM, making family life easier. Leduc Overhead Door Inc. offers an excellent benefits plan after a 90 day probation period. And if you seek to maximize your earnings, additional weekend and evening work is available.

A total of 1,000 hours (approx. 6 months of full-time work) of hands-on training and completion of the written training must be completed before being eligible to write the Provincial exam.

If you’re mechanically inclined, comfortable working with basic tools and equipment, have a valid driver’s license and are able to lift 75 lbs., please give us a call, email or drop by between 10 AM – 2 PM Monday - Friday.
